The Mississippi Kidney Foundation recently held its 52nd annual meeting at the Country Club of Jackson. Each year this meeting honors the Board of Trustees, as well as the Professional Board.
New members of the Board of Trustees include NaTasha Avery (Network 8); Elizabeth Eveland (Grantham Poole); Dr. Felicatas Koller (UMMC); Nick Morisani (Phelps Dunbar); Dr. Lindsey Norris (Central Nephrology); and Dr. Pradeep Vaitla (UMMC). New members of the Professional Advisory Board are Kim Jones and Mark Roth, both social workers with Fresenius Kidney Care.
The new slate of officers for 2017-2019 are Dr. Daniel Habeeb, president; Lee Parrott, past president; Matt Monsour, president-elect; Anna Adcock, vice-president of programs; Laura Walters, secretary; Natalie Hutto, treasurer. The three members-at-large of the executive committee are Monica Day, Paul Howell and Johnny Maloney.
Receiving the John Bower Award were Dr. John Lucas and Dr. Randy White. The Marcelo Ruvinsky Award was presented to Dr. Wilson Parry. Tommy Abernethy received the Jim Whitehurst Memorial Award. Brenda Dyson and Carolyn Price were presented the Harriet Williamson Memorial Award.
The Bower Foundation has announced the renewal of a three-year grant to the Mississippi Kidney Foundation. This will mark 18 consecutive years of grant support from the Bower Foundation.
The Board of Directors of HealthCare Research has given the MKF a grant to assist with funding for the FREE screenings throughout the state.
Many thanks to Walmart and its State Giving Program. With our $30,000 grant, we can now provide more screenings for kidney disease than ever before!

The Ada Hubbard Memorial Support Group will be held on Sunday, November 13, at 3 pm, at Fondren Presbyterian Church, located at 3220 Old Canton Road. All dialysis patients and their family members are encouraged to attend for information, tips and how-tos, with emphasis on the topic, “How to Eat During the Holidays.” There will be a cooking demonstration by a renal dietitian, as well as door prizes.
